On Feb. 20, the Harlem Globetrotters will play at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass., and tickets sold through United Methodist Churches (UMC) in New England will benefit the NothingButNets campaign. Local churches, youth groups, mission committees and other United Methodists groups in New England and Troy Conference churches are encouraged to sell tickets and support NothingButNets.
The event, spearheaded by members of the East Longmeadow UMC in East Longmeadow, Mass., is being held in partnership with the MassMutual Center, the Basketball Hall of Fame, and the Harlem Globetrotters. Group tickets are being offered to United Methodist Churches at significant discounts over public prices and a portion of each ticket sale will be donated to NothingButNets. The cost of tickets is $25 if purchased before Dec. 27; $30 after.
If a church and/or its members are located too far to attend the event, that church can still purchase the tickets and donate them to a local Springfield area agency such as the Boys and Girls Club. The Reservation Form allows churches to indicate this type of ticket sponsorship/donation.
Ticket prices are good for a full day of family events including a tour of the Basketball Hall of Fame, a Globetrotters autograph session (weather and team schedule permitting), and the Globetrotters University, an educational program, as well as the game, which begins at 7 p.m. Ticket holders may participate in any or all of the events.
Individual ticket sales not available. Reservations and purchases must be made through a local United Methodist church.
