Mission Statement
The mission of Troy Annual Conference is to provide, equip, and resource lay and clergy leaders for the purpose of helping churches make, nurture, and send forth disciples of Jesus Christ and connect congregations with ministries around the world.
Our Vision Statement
"Fix your attention on God. You'll be transformed from the inside out." Romans 12:2, The Message
Core Values undergirding our ministry
Recognizing the inherent tension of living as Christians in an increasingly complex world which often places us at odds with values of our culture, the following statements lift up and affirm core beliefs we hold in common which will guide our planning in shaping the future of our Conference.
Divine Revelation
We affirm the Christian revelation of a loving, triune God:
The Church
We affirm that the church is the visible presence of Jesus Christ in the world, called into existence by God: where God's word is preached, the sacraments are administered, and the people are nurtured for Christian living and transformation of the world.
Spiritual Leadership
We seek the best in spiritual leadership which is crucial to the life and vitality of each community of faith.
Individual Dignity
We affirm the worth and dignity of each person as a child of God, and commit to relationships and systems which serve the well-being of all persons.
Congregational Significance
We affirm the worth and importance of each local congregation where faith is lived and proclaimed in word, song, and deed.
Our Wesleyan Heritage
We believe in our Wesleyan Heritage with its theology of grace, its spirituality of heart, and its traditions of accountability which grounds us in the scriptures and calls us to embody both the journey inward (spiritual formation) and the journey outward (helping to meet the needs of others) as the bedrock of our lived faith.
Servant Leadership
We value the call to be servants in and to the world as expressed and made visible in the person of Jesus Christ.
Our Connection
We rejoice in our United Methodist connection which joins us in a common vision and a shared ministry to the world.
Stewardship
We believe that stewardship includes our energy, time, talent and environment as well as the basic and vital stewardship of our finances.
Ecumenism
We affirm ecumenical and inter-faith relationships at all levels as a concrete expression of the active presence of God's Spirit in the world.
Diversity
We affirm our commitment to diversity and inclusivity by the intentional welcoming, support and involvement of racial/ethnic persons in the local church, conference relationships and ministries.
Youth and Children
We affirm our commitment to nurturing and teaching children and learning from them, and the inclusion of young people in the life and decision-making of the local church and conference, as children and youth ARE the church.
